-This week I was back to working in the office. I pretty much jumped around doing different tasks for various managers (well I'm not really sure of their titles). Yesterday, I downloaded and attempted to fill out 27 PGAP forms that are required to be filled out for every audit. I also cross referenced numbers in an excel workbook. Thursday I helped to "roll forward" a GAMx and created new "steps" and added spreadsheets to them. Friday, I spent all day collecting stationary supplies, printers, internet cables, and all of 2008 files (we are talking 30-40) and then boxing them up and having them couriered to the client sites. I think I am learning a lot but it is always such a struggle. My motto for this internship: Fake it till you make it. Because I not my head and attempt everything they give me even if I have no clue what the purpose is or what exactly I have to do.
-Tuesday night we all decided to get out and went and bought cider and a pumpkin and spent the evening playing cards and watching Dave, Rebecca and Shelley carve the pumpkin, and eating the freshly cooked pumpkin seeds. Who said we can't have fall and Halloween in London! (though Halloween is a little disappointing here.)
We loved the fact that hard cider comes in a 2-liter here. This country know how to do it.
-Friday, we went to a British house party. Shelley went to high school with a guy who now goes to school at the Imperial College here in South Kensington. It was sweet to not spend any money on a Friday night and meet some cool Brits.
-Saturday, we ventured to the Camden Lock Market. This city has sooo many markets, I love it. This one was a little funkier, similar to the Brick lane market. Let just say there were a some people who looked like they were dressed for Halloween but weren't haha. We at lunch and then shopped the stalls. I went with the intention of buying Christmas presents and souvenirs for people, but I ended up with getting things for myself. oops.
After class and a power nap, I headed to Sainsbury's to get groceries. I must have looked very approachable today because I had two different people stop me and ask for directions on my 10 minute walk. One of them was British and after hearing me speak he asked if everyone here was a foreigner haha. It is crazy that I now give directions (at least around South Kensington) and that I rarely carry a map anymore. Don't get me wrong, I still haven't seen all of London yet. It is just SO big and vast, I am still discovering areas and boroughs I have never been to. Four months and I don't think I will see it all.
It is crazy to think that it is now November and I only have 39 days left in London. I have the next two weekends to enjoy the city and then we have trips planned to Prague and Dublin for the last 2 weeks in November. In December, we have one final weekend and then we are done, finished, moving out, and I am heading to Spain to see Preetal!!
